Hardik Pandya apologizes for his actions on Koffee with Karan; BCCI official responds
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been in the news over the last few days but for all the wrong reasons as he has been criticized from all quarters for his actions on the latest episode of Koffee With Karan in which he himself and his Indian teammate KL Rahul were the guests.
Pandya, who joined the Indian Test side for the third Test at the MCG after recovering from a back injury he suffered in the 2018 Asia Cup, made some outrageous comments about women and his sexual activities and has been getting a lot of flak on social media for his 'misogynist', 'sexist', and 'racist' comments.
However, he realized all his wrongdoings and apologized for his actions. "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect," Pandya tweeted.
In spite of his apology, this hasn’t gone down well with the BCCI officials. Speaking to Hindustan Times, a senior BCCI official said that the matter was far from over and asked Pandya to understand the duties and responsibilities of an international cricketer.
“This attempt at an apology does in no way bring the issue to closure. This merely shows how lightly he takes the gravely serious issue of respecting women. His conduct was unacceptable. He needs to understand the impact the utterances of an international cricketer have in this country but more importantly he needs to learn how to differentiate between the right and the wrong. Right now he seems to merely respond to the outrage and not to his own thought process and conduct,” the senior BCCI official said.
The all-rounder is a part of the Indian squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia and the subsequent tour of New Zealand.
