After several lavish pre-wedding functions, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant got married at another extravagant ceremony on Friday, July 12, in the presence of thousands of guests. As per a report in Business Standard, the ceremony held at the Jio World Convention Centre at Mumbai's Bandra Kurla Complex cost around $300 million.
The Bachchan family, superstar Rajnikanth, the Kapoors, and Khans of Bollywood were among those who attended the grand wedding. The international guest list included Reality TV star Kim Kardashian, her sister Khloe, and former UK PMs Tony Blair and Boris Johnson, among others.
From MS Dhoni to Sachin Tendulkar and Hardik Pandya to Shikhar Dhawan, several Indian cricketing superstars also made their presence felt at various wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. #1 Hardik Pandya asks for tequila shots
Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya had a blast at the wedding functions of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. He was seen burning the dance floor with Bollywood actors Ananya Panday, Ranveer Singh, and Anupam Kher. However, apart from his dance videos, a clip of him asking for tequila shots during one of the functions also went viral on social media.
In the video, Pandya is seen asking for two tequila shots from a server.
"Do [two] tequila," he is heard saying in the viral video.
Pandya played a key role in Team India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph, making crucial contributions with both bat and bat. He bowled the last over in the final against South Africa in Barbados. He received a grand welcome on returning to his hometown in Vadodara.
Earlier, the 30-year-old replaced Rohit Sharma as Mumbai Indians (MI) captain for IPL 2024. The team, however, had a disastrous season under him and failed to reach the playoffs.
#2 MS Dhoni puts on his dancing shoes
Captain Cool MS Dhoni is not known to be among the better dancers in the Indian cricketing circuit. However, even he was seen grooving at the wedding celebrations of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. In a video shared by news agency ANI, Dhoni was among the host of celebrities who were captured dancing.
Apart from the former Indian captain, Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer, Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Pandya, Shikhar Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Rajinikanth, Ananya, Anil Kapoor, Ishan Kishan and Madhuri Dixit were also seen shaking a leg in the video. Veteran Indian opener Dhawan is known for his dance moves apart from his brilliant batting skills. The same was on display during one of the wedding functions of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. The seasoned batter was seen doing the bhangra with Bollywood actors Ananya, Ranveer, and Arjun Kapoor. Dhawan's footwork on the dance floor was highly impressive in the viral clip.
38-year-old Dhawan played only five matches for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2024 before getting injured. He scored 152 runs at an average of 30.40 and a strike rate of 125.62, with a best of 70.
#4 Ambani family honors Team India's 2024 T20 World Cup heroes from Mumbai Indians camp
The Mumbai Indians trio of Rohit, Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav were honored by the Ambani family at the Sangeet ceremony of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. After the players got a traditional welcome at the function, they were later called on stage and given a warm ovation, with the 'Lehra Do' song playing in the background rather aptly.
Apart from Rohit and Pandya, Suryakumar also played a crucial role in India's 2024 T20 World Cup triumph. Significantly, he took a sensational catch of David Miller in the last over of the final, which went a long way in India lifting the crown.
#5 Suryakumar-Devisha Shetty's endearing moment at Anant Ambani-Radhika Merchant's sangeet ceremony
Like most married couples, Suryakumar also attended the wedding festivities of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant with his better half - Devisha Shetty. The two shared a very cute moment while posing for pictures and videos at the sangeet ceremony held in Mumbai.
Suryakumar was seen adjusting his designer sherwani with some help from Devisha. Both were smiling like a doting couple during the act. The mediapersons also cheered them on, making for a rather romantic moment.
Suryakumar was among the batting stars for India in the 2024 T20 World Cup. In eight innings, he scored 199 runs at an average of 28.43 and a strike rate of 135.37. The dynamic batter scored two fifties, with a best of 53, which came off only 28 balls against Afghanistan in Bridgetown.
