Hashim Amla reaches 6,000 runs in Test cricket
Hashim Amla crossed 6,000 Test runs in the second innings of the first Test of the series against Australia at Centurion. He is the sixth South African batsman to reach this landmark.
Amla made his Test debut against India at Kolkata back in the year 2004. He reached this landmark in his 74th test and in his 128th innings. He averages over 50 in Test cricket and has notched up 20 hundreds and 27 fifties next to his name as well. His highest score in an innings in a test match is 311 not out against England at the Oval in 2012.
Amla is currently the sixth highest run-scorer for South Africa in test cricket with 6008 runs next to his name. The top five run-scorers for South Africa in test cricket are Jacques Kallis (13206), Graeme Smith (9222), Gary Kirsten (7289), AB de Villiers (6966) and Herschelle Gibbs (6167).
Gary Kirsten is the first South African batsman to reach 6000 runs in Test cricket.
