Hashim Amla becomes the fastest to 20 ODI centuries, breaks Virat Kohli's feat

Playing his 108th ODI innings today, against Ireland in a ICC World Cup match, South African opening batsman Hashim Amla has become the fastest player to score 20 centuries in One Day International cricket, beating Indian stalwart Virat Kohli who had done it in 133 innings. 

Before this match, Amla had scored 5457 runs in 109 ODIs at an average of 55.68, with a highest score of 153*. Along with Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Kumar Sangakkara, Amla has been at the top of the batting ladder in both ODIs and Tests in the past 5 years. 

Opting to bat first at Canberra, South Africa have raced to 259/2 in 38.3 overs at the time of writing this article, with both Amla (141* off 120) and Faf du Plessis (109 off 108) going past the 100-run mark.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock failed yet again in the tournament, this time edging behind medium pacer John Mooney. He managed to score only 1 run off the 4 balls he faced.
