Helicopter crashes after dropping off Shakib-Al-Hasan and his wife

Shakib-Al-Hasan had a near death experience today

One person was killed and four others were injured when a helicopter that had just dropped off Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib-Al-Hasan and his wife Umme Ahmed Shishir in Cox's Bazar, Bangladesh crashed on its way back to Dhaka. The chopper had dropped Shakib and Shishir at the Royal Tulip Sea Resort, at around 9:30 am which is about 27 km away from Cox’s Bazar town.

While returning, the helicopter crashed near Innani beach, which is around 1.5 km away from the place where the cricketer was dropped. The duo was going to shoot a commercial when this tragic incident happened.

“I am fine, but feel rather shocked at the news of the chopper crash,” said Shakib after hearing about the accident. “But I can't really tell you anything about the crash. I was at shooting at the time.”

From the photographic evidence that was available, a blue-coloured chopper lay destroyed at what clearly seemed to be a sea beach, with the locals surrounding the accident spot in large numbers.

The person who lost his life in the crash was identified as Shah Alam, who was a resident of Dhaka, and the three injured people are undergoing treatment at a local health clinic. Amongst the injured is also the pilot of the chopper, Wing Commander (retd) Shafiqul Islam.

While it was indeed unfortunate for the person who lost his life and the people who were injured, fortunately, the cricketer and his wife had de-boarded the helicopter when this incident happened. There has been no news on the reasons behind the crash, and reportedly, an investigation is being carried out.

Bangladesh Test captain, Mushfiqur Rahim, upon hearing about the incident conveyed his prayers and blessings to his teammate and thanked the supernatural forces for Shakib’s safety.
