Which fielder has taken the most catches in IPL?
IPL being a T20 tournament has always seen so many breathtaking catches. The format is such that you need to be sharp every minute. Fielding plays a huge vital role here as one dropped catch can cost you the game.
Here is the list of top 10 players with most catches in IPL:
Player | Matches | Catches | Catches/innings |
Suresh Raina (CSK) | 110 | 60 | 0.550 |
Rohit Sharma (DC,MI) | 108 | 52 | 0.485 |
Dwayne Bravo (MI,CSK) | 74 | 41 | 0.561 |
Virat Kohli (RCB) | 104 | 41 | 0.398 |
AB de Villiers (DD,RCB) | 85 | 39 | 0.735 |
1. Suresh Raina (Chennai Super Kings)
Hardly a suprise, he is one of the best young fielders going around and has played the most number of matches in the IPL than any other player. Also one must remember that he is the leading run getter as well in the tournament’s history.
2. Rohit Sharma (Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians)
Whether it was the Deccan Chargers, or the Mumbai Indians, they could always rely upon Rohit Sharma. He doesn’t drop many and is just a few short of Suresh Raina.
3. Dwayne Bravo (Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings)
One of those players to have played for both CSK and MI, Bravo’s athleticism has always caught the spectator’s eye. He pulls out those acrobatic dives to stop boundaries and to take catches, he is at the third spot with 41 catches.
4. Virat Kohli (Royal Challengers Bangalore)
A one team man like Raina, Kohli is another one of those young Indian guns on the field. He too has taken 41 catches, but considering the fact that he has played more matches than Bravo, his catches/innings ratio comes down to 0.398 which is the lowest among the top 5.
5. AB de Villiers (Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore)
Right now the best batsman in the world, can also be classified among the best fielders in the world. With 39 catches, but with a phenomenal catches/innings ration of 0.735, de villiers is at number 5.
