Hope Harbhajan uses the opportunity to cement his place in the team, says Ganguly
Sourav Ganguly, former Indian captain, on Monday, showered praises on Harbhajan Singh’s comeback to the Indian ODI squad. He stated that it would be a good opportunity for the 34-year-old to return to the limited-over format after a long gap of four years.
"It's a good comeback for Harbhajan. Hope he uses the opportunity to cement his place in the team," Ganguly was quoted saying by Times of India.
The veteran off-spinner thinks the Zimbabwe tour call is a big exam for him and he wants to excel in it. Harbhajan has played 228 ODIs and 102 Tests for India, he'll definitely be the senior most player on the tour as the other senior members have been rested.
Harbajhan had been earlier included in the playing XI for the one-off Test series against Bangladesh. He also had a great IPL, representing the champions Mumbai Indians.
The Turbanator will now lead the spin attack for the Indian team in the three ODI series against Zimbabwe.
The Prince of Kolkata also praised Manoj Tiwary who was named in the 15-members squad for the Zimbabwe tour wishing him good luck.
Tiwary, who has been struggling with injuries has also been included in the second-string side led by Ajinkya Rahane.
The 29-year old has played 9 One-Day Internationals and has scored 253 runs with an average of 31.62 and the highest being 104*.
"It's good news for Tiwary. I wish him good luck for the series," Ganguly added.
