Humour: Fake Kevin Pietersen Twitter account trolls ECB and James Faulkner

KP was the subject of an entertaining exchange on Twitter

After scoring successive fifties in the Big Bash League semi-final and final for the Melbourne Stars, on the back of an impressive outing in the Ram Slam T20 Challenge, Kevin Pietersen’s stock has never been higher.

He might not be in the England side but that hasn’t stopped the 35-year-old from showing just what he can do with the bat across various T20 leagues around the world.

Although he is renowned for being active on social media, Kevin Pietersen made all the headlines even when he wasn’t the one who was tweeting. A fake account with the name “NotKP24” was in conversation with the Sky help desk about issues with his Sky reception.

Before too long the conversation turned to Pietersen and why he doesn’t turn up for England. SKY’s Twitter account failed to spot that it wasn’t Pietersen’s official account as they tweeted “sorry you haven’t been selected by ECB”, which was immediately turned into a conversation about whether Pietersen should play for England.

Here is the entire conversation:

When the Sky account tweeted that they didn’t know much about cricket as the person handling it (Iain) was Scottish, the conversation turned, even more entertaining. And the fake account user even tried to explain who KP is by using Scottish golfer Colin Stuart Montgomerie as an example.

Montgomerie has won a record eight European Tour Order of Merit titles, including a streak of seven consecutively from 1993 to 1999 and fake KP account tried to draw parallels with him and why KP should in the side.

Eventually, Sky’s Iain conceded that KP should be in the England side, which prompted the fake KP Twitter account to Tweet this.

KP even commented on the issue with a Tweet.

After England were bowled out for 101 in the final Test against South Africa in Centurion thereby handing the Proteas a win, this was the tweet from the fake account.

Then there was also a Tweet trolling Kevin Pietersen's Stars teammate and Australian all-rounder James Faulkner.
