'I am huge fan of Virat Kohli,' says Shane Warne
What's the story?
Virat Kohli is no stranger to success and praise. His passion, consistency and otherworldly abilities with the cricket bat have drawn a host of plaudits from legendary crickets, supporters and analysts. And the latest elite addition to that list is Shane Warne, who revealed that he is a huge fan of the Indian skipper.
In case you didn't know...
Kohli has been the backbone for India in all the three formats from the past eight years or so. The modern-day batting great not only does the job with the bat but also leaves no opportunity to steer his team on the top.
Kohli has achieved a lot in a short span of time. The right-handed batsman has crossed 10,000-run milestone in ODI cricket and will record 7000 runs in the Test cricket in the near future as well.
The Indian captain is touching new heights with each passing day and at this rate, he might tear hundreds of record books in the coming years.
The heart of the matter
Impressed by the India's brilliant reign currently and the way Kohli is handling things, Aussie great Shane Warne has applauded Virat and co.
While talking at an event held by Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai, the spin legend said,
"I am great friends with and huge fan of Virat Kohli. I love his emotions, which sometimes work to his detriment. But is that the worst thing you can do? I love his passion for the game."
Warne also expressed that India can dominate the world cricket for a long time, claiming:
"I think India can now have a dominant time in world cricket if they can keep their players on the park, the players stay hungry and value the opportunity and be grateful to play Test cricket."
What's next?
Kohli was rested for the last two New Zealand ODIs and T20I series and he might be seen in action at home later this month when Australia visit the subcontinent. The tour will consist of 5 ODIs and 2 T20Is, starting from the 24th of February at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore.
