“I pray he keeps coming in my wallet and in ur wallet too” - When Ravindra Jadeja shared a humorous post on Gandhi Jayanti in 2012

As India observes Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday, October 2, celebrating Mahatma Gandhi's birthday - an influential leader in the Indian independence movement -ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja once shared a humorous post in recognition of the day.

In 2012, Jadeja took to X to commemorate Gandhi Jayanti, writing:

“Happy bday to Gandhiji. I pray he keeps coming in wallet and in ur wallet too.”

The star all-rounder played a crucial role in the Indian team’s recent clean sweep against Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. He became the second-fastest cricketer to reach 300 wickets and 3,000 runs in Test cricket, contributing to India’s impressive seven-wicket victory in the second Test in Kanpur.

At 35, he has represented India in 74 Tests, scoring 3,130 runs, including 21 fifties and four centuries. He has also taken 303 wickets, including 13 five-wicket hauls. Jadeja will next be in action when India hosts New Zealand for a three-match Test series starting October 16 in Bengaluru.

Ravindra Jadeja retired from T20I cricket following the 2024 T20 World Cup

Rohit Sharma and company made history by becoming the first team to go unbeaten and win the T20 World Cup earlier this year. The Men in Blue triumphed over South Africa in the final by seven runs in Barbados, securing their second T20 World Cup title and ending an 11-year drought for ICC trophies.

During the presentation, Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20Is while receiving the Player of the Match award, and captain Rohit Sharma followed suit in the post-match press conference.

Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja took to Instagram on June 30 to announce his retirement from T20Is, writing:

“With a heart full of gratitude, I bid farewell to T20 internationals. Like a steadfast horse galloping with pride, I’ve always given my best for my country and will continue to do so in other formats. Winning the T20 World Cup was a dream come true, a pinnacle of my T20 International career. Thank you for the memories, the cheers, and the unwavering support. Jai Hind."
