I was scared - Fit-again Rohit reflects on injury woe
Rohit Sharma has admitted he was scared when he suffered the thigh injury that ruled him out of most of India's home international season.
The 29-year-old batsman was hurt when top-scoring with an innings of 70 in the fifth one-day international against New Zealand at the end of last October.
As a result, Rohit missed high-profile home series against England and Australia, but he is ready to captain Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, which begins next week.
Reflecting on his injury, Rohit was quoted by ESPNCricinfo as saying: "To be honest, I was scared when that happened. It's something which has never happened to me.
"I heard a very loud noise while taking a run. I was little scared until we got an MRI done, I did not know what to expect and what it was.
"We spoke to a lot of doctors around and with Patrick [Farhat, India's physio] as well. They all gave me the confidence saying it was not a major problem; it's just a small injury that you need to go through.
"There were a lot of things I focused on and, thankfully, I am back on my feet and ready to play."
Mumbai begin their IPL campaign on Thursday against Rising Pune Supergiants.
