TNPL 2016: I would rate this as my best innings so far, says Jagadeesan
Man of the match N Jagadeesan addressed the media after helping the Dindigul Dragons register their third win in a row at the India Cements Tamil Nadu Premier League against VB Thiruvallur Veerans.
Were you thinking about scoring a hundred today?
No, I didn’t think about that at all. I just wanted to be there till the end.
Your side has won three games in a row. What is the reason for this?
Our team bonding is very good and our rapport has set very quickly. We are like a family and we are enjoying ourselves on the field.
You have had a hundred run partnership what enabled that?
We both concentrated and played. The wicket wasn’t easy to bat on initially. We both kept chatting and we came to know how the wicket would play after five overs. We knew even if we took time and played initially we could play well if we were set.
Three superb innings in three matches, what are you eating these days?
(laughs) You’ll have to ask our trainer, he’s having a different diet for everyone.
Could you describe the three different wickets that you have played on?
At the first game in Dindigul, the wicket was really good. The ball was coming really well on to the bat. Back in Chennai also the wicket was how it was in Dindigul. Over here the wicket was stopping a bit.
I don’t know if it’s been raining here but the wicket wasn’t as good as the Dindigul wicket for batting.
Which innings would you rate as your best?
Definitely this innings. It wasn’t very easy for me to get going, I had a little bit of luck in the beginning too and after that I knew I could capitalise on that. This is my best innings so far.
How is this ground?
The wicket is good for both batsmen and spinners. Spinners got turn and the ball stopped quite a bit. It’s not as easy for fast bowlers but it’s friendly for batsmen and spinners.
You have scored the most runs for your side. Are you thinking of scoring more runs.
I don’t think about that at all. I just go in and play my game normally like I always do.
Do you think the team is overtly dependant on your batting?
No definitely not. Things have been going well for me so no one has gotten the chance to look at our middle order. We have really good strength in our middle order. So you never know they might come out all guns blazing too.
How was the crowd over here?
It was superb. Everyone cheered every single shot including singles and not only boundaries.
Do you think the toss was important today?
Yes, definitely. As the game progressed there was more turn in the wicket so I feel it was a good toss to win today
