ICC Champions Trophy: Shikhar Dhawan dedicates award to the Uttarakhand flood victims

India’s prolific run-getter in this year’s ICC Champions Trophy, Shikhar Dhawan, who won the coveted ‘Golden Bat’ for being the highest run-scorer in the tournament, finished the tournament on a touching note. The Man of the Tournament dedicated his award to the victims who had lost their lives in the recent flood that affected the state of Uttarakhand. More than a thousand have lost their lives in the nature’s fury and the death toll is still on a rise.

The opener, after receiving the award, said, “I would like to dedicate my performance to the people who have lost their lives back home due to the flood. My prayers are with them.”

Dhawan was simply phenomenal opening the batting for India in the tournament. The stylish southpaw amazed 363 runs in the tournament which included 2 hundreds against West Indies and South Africa. He along with Rohit Sharma were successful in providing India with a solid start on almost every occasion, which was the primary reason India won all their games in a comprehensive manner.

Ravindra Jadeja won the ‘Golden Ball’ for being the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
