Team News
Indian Team
India have a full squad available for selection. Mohammed Shami, who has played no international cricket since last year’s 50-over World Cup is fit and played in both of India’s warm-up matches. Dhoni has already mentioned that fitting Shami into the playing XI will be a tough task given Ashish Nehra and Jasprit Bumrah’s good performances recently.
Ajinkya Rahane, Harbhajan Singh and Pawan Negi are also likely to sit out.
New Zealand Team
Ross Taylor missed the entire series against Australia recently due to an injury, but he batted in the warm-up match against England on Saturday. The 32-year-old was not at his fluent best – scoring an unbeaten 19 with a strike-rate of below 100.
New Zealand are likely to go in with two spinners which means Mitchell McClenaghan and Adam Milne will be benched.
