During the India-Australia match, a 23-year-old college student was killed and two of his friends were severely injured after a man allegedly attacked them with a piece of a broken glass bottle in Bengaluru. The students were watching the match and as they objected to the barking of a dog during the tense stages of the match, the master of the dog attacked them.

The incident took place when the students were watching the match together on television at SK Gardens under JC Nagar police limits. At first, there were arguments while the dog was barking during the crunch match. When the students raised further objections on dog’s barking, master of the pet attacked them which led to one of the students’ death.

The victim was identified as Avinash, who along with his friends asked the owner of the dog, who was identified as John Kennedy, to leave the spot stating that the barking of the dog was disturbing them which led to an altercation.

Soon after the argument, Kennedy left the spot initially with his dog. But he soon returned and got into a scuffle with them, during which he allegedly stabbed Avinash with a broken glass bottle and also severely injured two of his friends.

Avinash died on the way to hospital

Avinash died on the way to the hospital and the other two friends of him also received treatment there. Police said that they have arrested Kennedy and the investigation on the matter has been started.

When this unfortunate and bizarre event took place, India were playing a knockout match against Australia in the ICC World T20. It was a virtual quarter-final match and a loss would have eliminated the hosts from the tournament.

Australia had a brilliant start to the game as they were batting first but India made a spirited comeback and restricted the Aussies to 160 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. In reply, India were in all sorts of trouble after they lost three quick wickets.

But it was another Virat Kohli masterclass which saved the day for India and took them to the semi-finals of the tournament. Kohli’s knock of unbeaten 82 off just 51 balls was phenomenal in the circumstances as he had to first steady the ship and then launch himself while chasing close to 14 runs an over.

In the end, India won the match by 6 wickets with 5 balls to spare and also qualified for the semi-finals. Kohli was rightfully adjudged as the player of the match for his heroics.
