New Zealand comprehensively defeated Bangladesh by 75 runs in the first match of the double-header at the Eden Gardens on Saturday. Led by a captain’s knock of 72 not out off 48 balls from Kane Williamson, the Blackcaps posted 145 for 8 in 20 overs and then leg-spinner Ish Sodhi and medium-pacer Grant Elliot turned on the screws, picking up figures of 3 for 21 and 3 for 12 respectively, to help their side extend their unbeaten run in the competition.

1- With figures of 5 for 22 in 4 overs, Rahman became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take a five-wicket haul in T20I and also registered the best bowling figures for a Bangladeshi in a T20I. He is also now the youngest bowler to take five-wicket haul in the history of the World T20.

3-Rahman’s 5 wicket haul against New Zealand earlier today makes him the 3rd bowlers to take 5 scalps against the Blackcaps. This is the most number of 5-wicket hauls taken against any team. Rangana Herath and Umar Gul are the two other bowlers to have taken a five-wicket haul against New Zealand. 

72-New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson's innings of 72 not out in 48 balls is now the highest score of his T20 career, His previous highest was 70 off 60 balls against Pakistan, that he made earlier this week at Mohali.

1-Today was the 1st instance in their history when Bangladesh have lost 7 wickets before putting up 50 runs on the board When the 7th wicket feel today, they had 48 runs in 12th over.

70- Bangladesh’s score of 70 all out is now their lowest T20I score. Their previous lowest was 78 against the same opponent in Hamilton in 2010. This is also the lowest score by any team in the ongoing edition of the World T20.

10- A combined total of 10 players got out by the ‘bowled’ mode of dismissal, which is now the highest in a T20I.
