T20 World Cup Winners List: Year-wise
The ICC T20 World Cup started in 2007, and since then has seen four more editions, excluding the ongoing sixth edition of the tournament in India. South Africa hosted the first edition, which India won by defeating Pakistan in the final.

The second edition saw Pakistan triumph after they overpowered the Sri Lankan challenge in England. West Indies were given the right to host the third edition where the English team won their first ever ICC tournament after defeating Australia in the final.
Sri Lanka hosted the 2012 edition which saw the team from West Indies defeat the hosts in the final. The fifth edition was hosted by Bangladesh where despite playing dominating cricket in the tournament, India fell in the final against Sri Lanka.
