ICC Test Rankings: Who were the biggest movers after Sri Lanka's historic win over South Africa?
Following the 2nd Test between South Africa and Sri Lanka which resulted in a historic series win for the Islanders, the ICC has released its latest rankings. Due to the series loss, South Africa (105) has lost five points in the latest team rankings and has dropped to the third spot.
Sri Lanka (93), on the other hand, have gained four points for their efforts in the Rainbow Nation, however, they are still placed at sixth. Sri Lankan players have also jumped spots in both the batting and bowling rankings.
Among the Sri Lankan players, Oshada Fernando has achieved the biggest gain in batting rankings and in the bowling department, the biggest jump was made by Dhananjaya De Silva.
Overall, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is still leading the pack in the batting department. Aiden Markram of South Africa jumped one place and is placed at eighth, while Quinton de Kock is ranked ninth and Faf du Plessis is at the tenth position.
Outside the top 10, Kushal Mendis of Sri Lanka has gained 11 spots to be placed 18th, Niroshan Dickwella, with a jump of eight places, is 37th, Oshada Fernando leapfrogged 35 players to be placed 65th, and Lahiru Thirimane gained 3 spots to be placed 98th.
The bowling charts are headed by the newly promoted Australian vice-captain, Pat Cummins who has retained the first position. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada is third and Vernon Philander is fourth.
Outside the top 10, Suranga Lakmal of Sri Lanka has improved by 3 spots to be placed at 30th, Vishwa Fernando is 43rd with a jump of 6 places, Kasun Rajitha jumped eight places to be at the 51st rank and Dhananjaya De Silva is ranked 77.
In the all-rounders rankings, Jason Holder remains in first place, whereas Vernon Philander of South Africa remains at the fifth place.
