The Men in Blue notched up their third win in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, against a struggling UAE side. With a healthier run-rate and two points in the kitty, India would be feeling safe about a top of the table finish. This was India’s biggest World Cup win in terms of deliveries remaining, let’s find out how each player performed on the night:

India

Rohit Sharma – 8/10

Got his first proper outing in the tournament, and looked in great touch. There were his trademark shots through the covers, and an array of flicks & pulls behind square-leg. He remained unbeaten on 57 runs off 55 balls to take India to the finish line, in a match that was India’s to lose. 

Shikhar Dhawan –  6/10

The Delhi batsman got out for his first low score in the World Cup, but not before he had hit three meaty boundaries. During UAE’s batting, Dhawan pulled off a magnificent catch at the first slip to see the back of Swapnil Patil. 

Virat Kohli – 7/10

Hung around for nearly an hour after the fall of Dhawan’s wicket to safely see India home. He hit five boundaries, and rotated the strike quite efficiently during his partnership 75 runs with Rohit Sharma. 

Ajinkya Rahane – Unrated 

Suresh Raina – 7/10

Held on to three good catches while fielding, and dropped one. Threw himself around to save vital runs for his team. He led India’s fielding efforts and made sure that the batsmen had absolutely nothing to chase. 

MS Dhoni – 7/10

Marshalled his troops well and made the right bowling changes at the right moments. Was half-responsible for two out of the ten UAE wickets, thanks to his tidy glove-work behind the stumps. 

Ravindra Jadeja – 7/10

Took two wickets towards the end of the UAE innings and sent down five economical overs. As usual, was top notch while fielding. 

Ravichandran Ashwin – 9/10

The Man of the Match put in a stellar performance to claim his career best bowling figures. He gave enough revolutions on the ball and flighted it regularly. Extracting spin from a wicket that is traditionally suited for pacers is no mean task, and Ashwin did it superbly. There were a flurry of off-breaks mixed with the odd carrom ball, as the UAE batsmen stayed bamboozled for most of their time at the crease.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 7/10

In his comeback game after three weeks of being sidelined for injury, Kumar did a reasonably good job. He picked up an early wicket and bowled good line and length, giving away only 19 runs in his quota of five overs. 

Umesh Yadav – 8/10

In Mohammed Shami’s absence, Yadav bowled with menace. He constantly beat the bat early on, and got the first breakthrough. Unlike his usual self, he had a terrific economy rate and bowled a peach to get rid of UAE’s best batsman, Shaiman Anwar. 

Mohit Sharma – 7/10

Gave away absolutely nothing in his five-over spell and picked up a wicket just before the 20th over. Continues to impress with his control and ability.
