ICC World Cup 2015: Ireland's Paul Stirling hopeful for another win
Nelson (New Zealand), Feb 16 (IANS) Adjudged Man-of-the-Match for his match winning knock of 92 runs against the West Indies in their World Cup opener here on Monday, Ireland's Paul Stirling is hopeful of winning the next encounter as well.
The so called lightweights of world cricket beat two-time champions the West Indies by four wickets as they chased down a target of 305 quite easily, courtesy splendid knocks from Stirling, Ed Joyce (84) and Niall O' Brien (79).
"Great to get that first win of the competition and hopefully we can make it two for two in a week's time. It was a good toss to win and insert West Indies, we realised that and got quick early wickets," Stirling said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Ireland next play the United Arab Emirates at the Gabba in Brisbane on February 25.
