The ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is around the corner. The hosts England will face South Africa at the Oval on 30th May to mark the beginning of the biggest competition in internatinal cricket.

The recent matches in England have given us indications that it is going to be a batsman's paradise this World Cup. With all teams having power-hitters in their ranks, no score will be a safe.

Let us look at the highest ODI scores by all the 10 teams participating in this World Cup.

England - 481/6 (Against Australia at Nottingham on June 19, 2018)

In the third ODI in Trentbridge, England made the highest international team total in the history of ODI cricket as they accumulated a mammoth 481 runs against Australia. Alex Hales hit 147 and Jonny Bairstow scored 139 as England became the first team to cross the 475-run mark in an ODI innings. Chasing a gigantic total of 482, Australia were bowled out for 239 which also marked England's biggest ODI win and Australia's heaviest ODI defeat in terms of runs.

Sri Lanka - 443/9 (Against the Netherlands at Amstelveen on July 4, 2006)

Sri Lanka's highest ODI score came against the Netherlands on July 4, 2006, as they piled up 443 runs at Amstelveen. Sanath Jayasuriya hit 157 and Tillakaratne Dilshan scored 117 to help them better the then-highest ODI score of 438 by South Africa. With the help of three-wicket hauls from Dilhara Fernando and Kaushal Lokuarachchi, they were able to restrict the Netherlands to 248, and Sri Lanka won the game by 195 runs.

South Africa - 439/2 (Against West Indies at Johannesburg on January 18, 2015)

The blitzkrieg from legendary batsman AB de Villiers helped South Africa register their highest ODI score against the West Indies at Johannesburg on Jan 18, 2015. De Villiers reached his century in 31 balls and finished his innings with an astonishing 149 off 44 balls. Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw also hit centuries which helped the Proteas post a humongous 439 on board. West Indies managed to score only 291 runs as South Africa won by 148 runs.

Australia - 434/4 (Against South Africa at Johannesburg on March 12, 2006)

Australia's highest ODI score came against South Africa at Johannesburg on March 12, 2006. Ricky Ponting's 164 off 105 balls, along with half-centuries from Adam Gilchrist, Michael Hussey and Simon Katich helped Australia register their highest ODI score ever. But a counter-attack from Herschelle Gibbs (175) and skipper Graeme Smith (90) helped the Proteas to chase down the target in 49.5 overs.

India - 418/5 (Against West Indies at Indore on December 8, 2011)

Virender Sehwag's record-breaking 219 off 149 balls helped India register their highest-ever ODI total against the West Indies. He smashed seven sixes and 25 fours which helped India post a total of 418/5. West Indies were all-out for 265 and India won the game by 153 runs and clinched the series.

New Zealand - 402/2 (Against Ireland at Aberdeen on July 1, 2008)

Twin-centuries from Brendon McCullum (166 off 135 balls) and James Marshall (161 off 141 balls) helped New Zealand score their highest ODI score of 402 against Ireland at Aberdeen. Ireland could manage only a paltry 112 in response which eventually handed a 290-run win for New Zealand which is also their highest winning margin in terms of runs in ODIs.

Pakistan - 399/1 (Against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo on July 20, 2018)

Fakhar Zaman hit the first double century by a Pakistani batsman which helped them post a huge 399 on board. Zaman scored 210 runs off 156 balls, including 24 fours and five sixes. Shadab Khan's impressive bowling spell of 28/4 made sure that Pakistan beat Zimbabwe by a colossal margin of 244 runs.

West Indies - 389/10 (against England at St.George's, Grenada on February 27, 2019)

The fourth ODI of the series between West Indies and England at Queen's Park saw a run feast as England scored 418/6 batting first, with the help of blistering centuries from Jos Buttler (150 from 77 balls) and Eoin Morgan (103 off 88 balls). Chasing 419, West Indies fought back ferociously with Chris Gayle (162 off 97-balls) and Dwayne Bravo (61 off 59-balls) hitting the English bowlers all round the park. But they were eventually bowled out for a very competitive 389.

Afghanistan - 338/10 (Against Ireland at Greater Noida, on March 17, 2017)

A brilliant century from the skipper Asghar Afghan helped Afghanistan register their highest ODI score of 338 against Ireland in 2017. Ireland fought back well but a lethal bowling spell of 43/6 from Rashid Khan made sure that Afghanistan remained victorious in the end by 34 runs.

Bangladesh - 329/6 (Against Pakistan at Mirpur on April 17, 2015)

The first ODI of Pakistan's tour of Bangladesh in 2015, witnessed Bangladesh scoring their highest ODI score of 329 with the help of centuries from Tamim Iqbal (132 off 135-balls) and Mushfiqur Rahim (106 off 77-balls). Chasing 330, Pakistan lost wickets at wrong intervals of time and they eventually fell short by 79 runs.
