ICC World T20 2016: Pakistan diplomats denied permission to visit Kolkata
In a new twist to the unceasing drama between the neighbouring countries , India has denied seven Pakistan diplomats to visit Kolkata for the high-profile encounter to be held on March 19.
Stating the development as deplorable, the official said that the diplomats intended to boost the morale of the Pakistan team. “It is unfortunate that India, despite being the host of the World Cup, is refusing to fulfil its obligations and creating hurdles,” said the official who wished not to be named.
He added that necessary steps will be taken and Indian deputy high commissioner in Pakistan will also be summoned.
Earlier there was high uncertainity over Pakistan’s arrival in India. After the match was shifted from Dharamsala to Kolkata, BCCI and West Bengal Government assured the Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB) of foolproof security. But still there was plenty of dilemma over their participation in the tournamnet.
Prior to that, in fear of protests in regard of Pathankot attacks and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister’s uneagerness to hold the match forced ICC to shift the high-voltage tie.
Pakistan would be locking horns with Bangladesh in their first match of the T20 World Cup.
