ICC World T20 2016, Stats: Australia beat Pakistan to keep their hopes alive

James Faulkner produced a match-winning spell

Australia defeated Pakistan by 21 runs at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Friday to knock the 2009 World T20 champions out of the competition in the 2016 ICC World T20. Led first by a captain’s knock of 61 from 43 balls from Steve Smith and then a superb bowling effort, especially from James Faulkner, who took his maiden five-wicket haul in T20Is, the Aussies kept their hopes fo qualifying for the semifinals alive.

Here are all the stats from the match:

61- Steve Smith’s innings of 61 not out off 43 balls is now his highest against Pakistan in T20 Internationals. In his previous 5 T20Is against them, he had scores of 8,0,5, 12 and 3.

1- This is the 1st time that Australia have had two partnerships in excess of 50  in a T20I. Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell put on 62 runs for the 4th wicket and then Smith added 74 runs with Shane Watson to propel their side to a big total.

0- Today is the 1st time in 45 T20Is against Australia that Mohammed Amir has failed to pick a single wicket. His bowling figures against them in the previous three matches read 3 for 23, 3 for 35, 3 for 27 and 3 for 27 prior to this match.

2- Australia’s score of 193 for 4 on Friday is their second highest in their World T20 history. They fell just 4 runs short of their highest ever score of 197 for 7 which also came against Pakistan in the 2010 edition of the tournament in the West Indie

6-The encounter between Pakistan and West Indies in Mohali on Friday was their sixth meeting in World T20. Only Sri Lanka and West Indies have faced one another on more occasions than these two sides in the history of the competition(7).

2-Mohammed Sami’s spell of 4-0-53-0 on Friday is the now the second most expensive figures by a Pakistani in T20Is. Incidentally, it is the same bowler who holds the record for conceding the most number of runs by a Pakistani, having given away 54 runs in 4 wicketless overs against the same opponent.

44- Khalid Latif registered his highest score of his T20Is career against Australia. He has an aggregate of 

1-James Faulkner registered his best bowling figures for an Australian in T20I with figures of  5 for 27 in 4 overs on Friday.
