ICC World T20 2016: Tournament by numbers
West Indies became the first ever team to win the ICC World T20 for the second time at the Eden Gardens on Sunday. They did it in style as all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite hit four consecutive sixes at the start of the final over to win the title.
England, the other finalists, were stunned as they failed to defend 19 runs in the finale over of the grand finale in Kolkata. Overall, the tournament produced some nerve wrecking encounters.
It was not just about the full members this time as teams like Afghanistan came up with great efforts. They were the only team in the tournament to defeat the eventual champions West Indies.
India's star batsman Virat Kohli won the Player of the Tournament award for his match-winning knocks against Pakistan and Australia. Bangladesh's opener Tamim Iqbal was the leading run-scorer eventually as he had the advantage of playing extra matches during the qualifiers.
