Imran Khan agrees to mentor Peshawar Zalmi
Peshawar Zalmi, the franchise owned by Javed Afridi announced that Imran Khan, the former Pakistani captain will be his side’s mentor in the Pakistan Super League.
Javed confirmed that the Team will benefit from the legend, Imran Khan in the Pakistan Super League. According to him, his guidance and vision will be beneficial for the team.
He said, “Imran Khan has become the mentor of our team and we are overjoyed with this development as he represents the best of Pakistan cricket and we will benefit immensely from his guidance and advice.”
The team owner gave all the credit to the captain, Shahid Afridi for getting Imran Khan on board as a mentor. Imran has turned into a politician now and has not been connected with the sport for quite a long time now. He also said, “We want the Pakistan Super League to benefit from the legacy and vision of Imran the cricketer.”
Javed admitted the fact that Mr. Imran Khan has a packed schedule but also mentioned that how he has promised that he would take out time for the franchise.
A man of his stature who is a huge leader now could benefit the team in many ways. He is followed in numbers by the youth now and he continues to inspire them. Khan led Pakistan to their only World Cup win in 1992 and since then has been a role model of a massive population not only in Pakistan but all over the world.
Javed also added that his presence is what mattered and the technical support he could give to the players of the team could be of immense importance, he concluded, “Even if he has not played T20 cricket it doesn't matter what is important is his insight and views on cricket and how it should be played.”
The tournament is scheduled to begin on 4th of February and with the teams formed and players drafted, all the franchises will now be looking forward to the day, but getting someone like Imran Khan on board could make a huge difference for the team which will be led by Shahid Afridi.
