Former Pakistani cricketer, Imran Khan has appealed for improved sporting and political relations between India and Pakistan. Khan is of the belief that the two countries could coexist peacefully and in cooperation with each other.

“My view has always been that cricket relations between the two countries are very important to foster better relations among the people at least,” Imran said.

Khan who now heads the main opposition party at the national level, Tehreek-e-Insaaf party of the Khyber Pakhtunkhawa province spoke about his political understanding on the nature of relations between India and Pakistan.

“We can gain a lot but lose by having bitter relations,” he said in an interview to Ary News channel in Dubai.

On being asked about the Pakistani left-arm pacer Mohammad Irfan, Khan stated that, “There is lot of general talent in Pakistan team but if you ask me we have one talent that no other team has and that is the pace bowler, Irfan,”

“I recently spoke to Wasim Akram and we agreed that if Irfan is taken proper care off and learns the art of top bowling and is groomed well than he can be a match winner for Pakistan. If Irfan takes care of his fitness I see him playing an impact role in the next year’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand,” he added.

When asked if Pakistani cricketers like Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi will join poilitcs too, he smilingly said, “Where else can cricketers go except join the party because they know me well and they know what the party stands for what every Pakistani citizen wants.”
