[In Picture] When Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a ‘201 kmph’ delivery during India tour of Ireland 2022

The speedometer has been a relatively reliable tool in assessing the bowler's speed. However, like all technology, it is prone to malfunctioning at times. During the ongoing second Test between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval, the speedometer showed one of Mohammed Siraj's deliveries at 181.6 kmph during the final session on Day 1.

The speed reading was an anomaly, considering that Siraj averages around late 130s with his right-arm pace.

However, this is not the first time that the speedometer has shown such wild numbers. During the rain-curtailed first T20I between India and Ireland in 2022, reduced to 12 overs per side in Malahide, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's spell showcased bizarre readings like 201 kmph and 208 kmph, well over his average speed, and the fastest delivery ever bowled in the sport — Shoaib Akhtar's 161.3 kmph.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with figures of 1-16, including a maiden, as India recorded a comfortable win by seven wickets.

Mohammed Siraj kept things tight for India in his first spell on Day 2 of 2nd BGT 2024-25 Test

Siraj had a huge task to assist spearhead Jasprit Bumrah with the pink ball, with Team India only having 180 runs on the board from the first innings. The right-arm pacer was good in flashes while bowling under the lights, and finished with figures of 10-3-29-0 at the end of the first day.

He was involved in a spirited battle with Marnus Labuschagne in the final session, and the battle continued on Day 2 as well. The pacer shared the pink ball with Bumrah to kickstart proceedings and tested the batters from his end as India made two breakthroughs in the first session.

As of writing, Siraj's figures read 0-42 after 16 overs, with India searching for more wickets to claw their way back into the game.
