Incredible talents yet to fulfill their potential

Cricket’s history has been full of extremely talented batsmen, and a few of them have become exceptional players on the international level. Let us try and find a few young incredible talents who are yet to realise their talent:

Rohit Sharma

He is a man who needs no introduction to cricket fans, especially in the subcontinent. Regarded as one of the best batting talents in the world by numerous cricket experts. He lived up to expectations when he first burst onto the international level, making a sensational debut for India in their triumphant world T20 campaign in 2007. He carried his form into the CB Series in Australia in 2008 as well, scoring two half-centuries, one of those in the final. He however has lacked consistency in the latter part of his career. He makes batting look easy, but needs to change his temperament and tighten his technique a little bit. When Sharma is on song, he is a pure pleasure to the eye. Let’s hope that Sharma finds his trigger moment soon enough, and converts his talent into performances at the international level

Shaun Marsh

He came from a cricketing background, as his father Geoff Marsh was a former opening batsman for the Aussies. Like his father, Marsh is one of the most naturally gifted young batsmen in the world. Marsh scripted a sensational debut in the first season of IPL, where he was the leading run scorer, with bowlers all around the world finding it very tough to restrict him. He got a chance to play for the national side in 2008 following his splendid performances, and had a good start to his international career as well, but lost his form soon afterwards. He had disastrous CB Series in 2012, and lost his place in the side. However, his batting still oozes talent, and coming back to form is just a matter of time for him. Let’s hope that Marsh gets his form back, and proves his worth at the international level.

Umar Akmal

He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2009, following that up with his test debut the same year, where he notched up a blistering ton against a New Zealand attack which included bowlers like Vettori and Shane Bond. A fearless batsman with a wide range of shots, Akmal is highly praised by many experts. He has been struggling with his form in the recent past, but there’s no doubting his talent, or the fact that he can be the next batting superstar of Pakistan.

Chamara Kapugedera

This talented right hander from Sri Lanka is considered as future batting hope for the country. Sri Lankan selectors picked this guy at an early age of 19 and backed him as a future prospect. However, this incredibly talented batsman is yet to come to terms with his abilities. He is still 25 and has bright future ahead of him.

Dinesh Chandimal

A technically sound batsman, Chandimal impressed everyone with his ability to pace an inning. However, while he can consolidate an innings very well, he has to work on his hitting abilities. If everything goes well, this guy can make it big at the international level.
