India will take on Afghanistan in their first Super Eight game of the 2024 T20 World Cup at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Thursday (June 20). The two teams have locked horns thrice in the mega ICC event, with the Men in Blue leading Afghanistan 3-0 in head-to-head battles.
The-then Virat Kohli-led side beat Afghanistan by 66 runs in their last faceoff at the 2021 T20 World Cup.
Overall, India lead Afghanistan by 7-0 in eight T20Is. One match didn't yield a result.

India's last T20 World Cup game against Canada at Lauderhill in Florida was abandoned due to rain on June 15. Here's what happened in their previous match:
Rohit Sharma and Co. beat the USA by seven wickets in New York on June 12.
Asked to bat first, USA posted 110/8 in 20 overs. Nitish Kumar starred with the bat, scoring 27 runs off 23 balls with the help one six and two boundaries. Steven Taylor also chipped in with 24 off 30, hitting two maximums.
Small contributions from Corey Anderson, skipper Aaron Jones, Harmeet Singh, and Shadley van Schalkwyk helped the team cross the three-figure mark.
Arshdeep Singh registered the best-ever figures for the Men in Blue in the T20 tournament, returning with excellent figures of 4/9, while Hardik Pandya bagged two wickets.
In response, Saurabh Netravalkar dismissed star openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli early. Ali Khan soon sent back Rishabh Pant, leaving the Men in Blue reeling at 39/3.
Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube then shared a match-winning partnership to take the team over the line. Yadav scored an unbeaten 50 off 49, comprising two sixes and as many boundaries. Dube also stayed unbeaten on 31 off 35 deliveries.

Afghanistan's scorecard from their last 2024 T20 World Cup match
Afghanistan lost to West Indies (WI) by 104 runs in their last 2024 T20 World Cup match at Gros Islet in St Lucia on June 17.
Asked to bat first, WI posted 218/5 in 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran starred with the bat, scoring 98 runs off 53 balls in an innings laced with eight sixes and six boundaries. Johnson Charles, captain Rovman Powell, and Shai Hope also chipped in with 43 (27), 26 (15), and 25 (17), respectively.
Gulbadin Naib was the pick of the Afghanistan bowlers, returning with figures of 2/14 in his two overs. Naveen-ul-Haq and Azmatullah Omarzai also bagged one wicket each.
In response, Afghanistan were bundled out for 114 in 16.2 overs. Ibrahim Zadran top scored with 38 (28), while Azmatullah, skipper Rashid Khan, and Karim Janat chipped in in double digits.
Obed McCoy emerged as the pick of the West Indies bowlers, finishing with figures of 3/14, while Akeal Hosein and Gudakesh Motie bagged two wickets apiece. Andre Russell and Alzarri Joseph also scalped one each.
