IND vs AUS 2024, 2nd Test: India Player Ratings as Rohit Sharma & Co. suffer thrashing to squander lead in BGT 2024/25

India suffered a thumping defeat in Adelaide as Australia came out on top by 10 wickets to level the series 1-1. The visitors were never really in the game after opting to bat first, with batting under the lights proving difficult again.

India were boosted by the returns of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, but a brilliant blitz from Travis Head and a match-defining spell in the first innings from Mitchell Starc proved too hot to handle. Rohit and company now have a lot of work to do ahead of the next encounter of the series.

On that note, here are India's player ratings from the second Test against Australia.

Rohit Sharma: 1/10

Batting in the middle order, Rohit fell cheaply in both innings. He appeared bereft of confidence at the crease and never seemed like he would be among the runs. The Indian skipper's bowling changes were uninspiring once again.

Yashasvi Jaiswal: 4.5/10

Jaiswal's tendency to move across to off-stump against Starc brought about his downfall in the first innings. While he made adjustments in the second essay and got off to a start, Scott Boland's accuracy troubled him and sent him back.

Shubman Gill: 6/10

Gill was one of India's most assured batters out in the middle and got off to decent starts in both innings. He played an unconvincing shot in the first innings before Starc ripped his stumps apart with a deadly inswinger in the second. The No. 3 batter needs to sort out a few minor technical issues, much like the rest of the team.

Virat Kohli: 2/10

For the first time in Adelaide, Kohli failed miserably in both innings. The Aussie pacers' movement and bounce had him in all sorts of trouble, and he doesn't inspire much confidence right now despite his hundred in the first Test.

Rishabh Pant: 6/10

Pant played a few dazzling strokes as he tried to throw the Australian bowlers off their lengths. But he couldn't capitalize on both his efforts, and his keeping was well below par. As India's best Test batter, he needs to do better.

KL Rahul: 5/10

Opening the batting again, Rahul made 37 in the first innings before being prised out by Starc. A soft dismissal sent him back to the hut on the final day of the Test, with Pat Cummins forcing a glove down the leg side.

Nitish Kumar Reddy: 8/10

Nitish was left batting with the tail in both innings and looked composed at the crease. His bowling was underutilized again, but his batting has been a major positive in the series thus far.

Ravichandran Ashwin: 6.5/10

Ashwin bowled a long spell in the first innings that did its job to a decent extent, but Head cut loose towards the end. The off-spinner didn't have the conditions to make a big impact.

Harshit Rana: 3/10

Harshit endured a difficult outing in Adelaide. While he started well, hitting the right lines and lengths, he lost his radar when attacked and dished out a few too many boundary balls. The young pacer will learn from this experience.

Jasprit Bumrah: 9/10

Bumrah was the pick of the Indian bowlers once again. He bowled on despite dealing with a niggle and finished with four important wickets.

Mohammed Siraj: 6.5/10

Siraj had his moments in the second Test, but on the whole, it wasn't a performance befitting the second pacer of a top international team. He wasn't potent enough in the first innings after taking the new ball.
