The two teams have locked horns five times in T20 World Cups, with India leading Australia 3-2 in those five matches. The Men in Blue beat the Aussies by six wickets in their last faceoff at the 2016 T20 World Cup. Australia last beat India by nine wickets in the 2012 edition of the tournament.
Overall, India and Australia have locked horns in 31 T20Is, with India and Australia winning 19 and 11 games, respectively. One match didn't yield any result.
India’s scorecard from their last 2024 T20 World Cup match
India beat Bangladesh by 50 runs in their last T20 World Cup match in Antigua on Saturday, June 22.
After being sent into bat, India posted 196/5 in their allotted 20 overs. Hardik Pandya starred with the bat scoring an unbeaten 50 runs off 27 balls, hitting three sixes and four boundaries. Openers Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli chipped in with 23 (11) and 37 (28), respectively. Rishabh Pant and Shivam Dube also contributed 36 (24) and 34 (24), respectively. Suryakumar Yadav fell immediately after a first-ball six.
Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rishad Hossain were the pick of the Bangladesh bowlers, returning with two wickets apiece, while Shakib Al Hasan bagged one wicket.
In response, Bangladesh managed 146-8. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 40 off 32, including three sixes and one boundary. Rishad Hossain and Tanzid Hasan also chipped in with 24 (10) and 29 (31), respectively. Litton Das, Shakib Al Hasan, and Mahmadullah were the other batters to contribute in double digits.
Kuldeep Yadav starred with the ball for the Men in Blue, finishing with figures of 3/19, while Arshdeep Singh and Jasprit Bumrah bagged two wickets apiece.

Australia's scorecard from their last 2024 T20 World Cup game
Australia lost to Afghanistan by 21 runs in their last 2024 T20 World Cup match at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown, St Vincent on Saturday, June 22.
Asked to bat first, Afghanistan put up 148/6 in 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran starred with the bat. Gurbaz smashed 60 runs off 49 balls, including four sixes and as many boundaries. Zadran scored 51 off 48 with the help of six boundaries. The duo shared a 118-run partnership for the opening wicket. Karim Janat and Mohammad Nabi were the other batters to reach double digits.
Pat Cummins emerged as the leading wicket-taker for Australia with a second consecutive hat-trick, finishing with excellent figures of 3/28, while Adam Zampa bagged two wickets.
In response, Australia were bowled out for 127 in 19.2 overs. Glenn Maxwell put up the lone fight, scoring 59 off 41, comprising three sixes and six boundaries. Captain Mitchell Marsh and Marcus Stoinis were the other batters to reach double digits.
Gulbadin Naib starred with the ball for Afghanistan, returning with figures of 4/20, while Naveen-ul-Haq bagged three wickets.
