IND vs AUS, Women's T20 World Cup 2024: India Player Ratings as Harmanpreet and Co. reach brink of elimination

Team India reached the brink of elimination in the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup as they went down to Australia by nine runs at the Sharjah Cricket Ground on Sunday, October 13. The Women in Blue are now dependent on the result of the New Zealand-Pakistan clash.

Australia made a decent 151 after batting first, with Grace Harris top-scoring at the top of the order. India put up a fight in the chase but eventually fell short in the last over despite Harmanpreet Kaur remaining unbeaten.

On that note, here are India's player ratings from their 2024 Women's T20 World Cup clash against Australia.

Shafali Verma: 6/10

Verma tried to be aggressive and struck a few boundaries but found long-on to perfection off Ash Gardner. The opening batter's thinking has been muddled throughout the 2024 Women's T20 World Cup.

Smriti Mandhana: 2/10

Smriti disappointed in a crunch game, scoring a painstaking six off 12. She didn't seem to be in any rhythm, and her innings seriously disrupted India's momentum in the chase.

Harmanpreet Kaur: 6/10

Harmanpreet top-scored for India and became their leading run-scorer in T20Is, but it was far from her best effort. She struggled for timing during most of her stay, and her final strike rate under 115 reflected the same. The skipper's bowling changes and field placements were truly bizarre.

Jemimah Rodrigues: 5.5/10

Rodrigues was clearly up for the fight, striking three fours, but fell to a pull shot that was caught in the deep. India needed her to stay at the crease longer.

Richa Ghosh: 2/10

Richa had a horror day behind the stumps and was run out after facing just three balls. Strangely, she came out to bat below Deepti Sharma.

Deepti Sharma: 6.5/10

Deepti's four overs produced two wickets, including the big one of Harris. With the bat, though, she didn't do enough. While the left-hander put a couple of loose deliveries away for boundaries, she didn't bat at a fast enough pace.

Pooja Vastrakar: 5.5/10

Coming back into the side, Vastrakar bowled three decent overs in conditions that assisted the spinners. She missed a full-toss in the last over to be clean bowled by Annabel Sutherland.

Arundhati Reddy: 5/10

Arundhati bowled three uneventful overs, with her changes of pace proving rather ineffective. She was run out off the first ball she faced, curiously delaying her journey to the non-striker's end to get Harmanpreet on strike.

Shreyanka Patil: 6/10

Shreyanka was among India's more threatening bowlers throughout the first innings, mixing up sharp-turning off-breaks with arm balls and yorkers. While she was probably hit for a boundary too many, she showed promise. In the last over of the match, though, the all-rounder completely lost the plot to be caught short in embarrassing fashion.

Radha Yadav: 7/10

A late addition to the XI, Radha surprisingly bowled only two overs, which produced a wicket and seemed fairly penetrative. She was good on the field, as expected.

Renuka Singh Thakur: 7.5/10

Renuka got the ball to move around, even if her lines weren't perfect. She picked up two wickets in the powerplay to give India a good chance of restricting the Aussies to a below-par total.
