IND vs SL 2024, 3rd T20I: India player ratings as Rinku, Suryakumar & Sundar bowl Men in Blue to improbable Super Over win
Team India pulled off an improbable victory in the third T20I against Sri Lanka as they somehow dragged the game to a Super Over before clinching the contest. The Pallekele crowd watched in astonishment as the hosts stunningly squandered a winning position.
The Men in Blue managed just 137/9 in the first innings, and Sri Lanka were in control for large portions of the chase. With only two overs to go, India's part-timers rolled up and picked up a combined four wickets, after which the home side managed just two runs in the Super Over.
With the win, Suryakumar Yadav and company completed a 3-0 whitewash. On that note, here are India's player ratings from the third T20I against Sri Lanka.
IND vs SL 2024: Batters struggle in Pallekele before spinners pull off a heist
Yashasvi Jaiswal: 4/10
Jaiswal couldn't get going in the third T20I in tricky conditions. The southpaw struck a couple of boundaries but was trapped in front and ate up a review as well. He was sloppy on the field.
Shubman Gill: 7.5/10
Gill anchored the Indian innings well and top-scored with a calm 39 that featured only three fours. He rotated strike impressively and gave India a defendable total, although his dismissal was disappointing.
Suryakumar Yadav: 8/10
Suryakumar's trademark pick-up shot let him down on this occasion, but he was astute with his leadership. He bowled India into the Super Over, taking two wickets while conceding just five runs in the final over.
Riyan Parag: 7.5/10
Parag played a valuable hand in a smart partnership with Gill. While he shouldn't have been dismissed off a short ball from Wanindu Hasaranga, the ball was there to be hit to a certain extent. The youngster's four overs produced 27 runs.
Sanju Samson: 2/10
Samson had a miserable outing as he bagged a duck and dropped two catches. He also took a couple, but it was a terrible display on all fronts.
Shivam Dube: 4/10
Dube was curiously dismissed by spin once again and has looked off color for months now. He wasn't needed with the ball.
Rinku Singh: 7/10
Promoted to No. 4, Rinku played a disastrous loft off Maheesh Theekshana to be dismissed second ball. He should've taken more time to get used to the conditions. The part-time off-spinner helped himself to a couple of wickets in the penultimate over.
Ravi Bishnoi: 6.5/10
Bishnoi proved expensive as he leaked 38 runs in his four overs, with his lines and lengths letting him down. The leg-spinner did pick up two wickets, though, and spiritedly waved his willow around in the first innings.
Washington Sundar: 9.5/10
Sundar essayed a handy knock towards the end of the Indian innings, bowled an economical four-over spell that produced two wickets, and sent down the all-important Super Over. It was a complete performance from the all-rounder, who's in a good vein of form at the moment.
Mohammed Siraj: 7/10
Siraj's three overs in the powerplay were fairly penetrative but didn't yield any breakthroughs. His lack of game awareness caught up to him on the field, not for the first time.
Khaleel Ahmed: 3/10
Khaleel's two overs in the powerplay were rather insipid. He had a chance to make an impact at the death with the game in the balance but lost his radar completely, delivering a host of wides to nearly cost India the game.
