India beat Zimbabwe by 54 runs in the first of the two Twenty20 Internationals at the Harare Sports Club on Friday.
Chamu Chibhabha and Hamilton Masakadza got Zimbabwe off to a quick start, cruising to a half-century stand in good time. Harbhajan Singh got the breakthrough with the first ball of his second over, removing Chamu Chibhabha for 23. Axar Patel struck twice in the next over, and the Zimbabwean collapse was well underway.
The innings folded at 124/7.
Earlier in the day, the Indian top 3 fired on all cylinders to power the score to 178/5, Robin Uthappa’s responsible 35-ball 39 backing up the charge given by openers Murali Vijay and Ajinkya Rahane.
