India Cements TN Premier League is N Srinivasan’s brainchild, says Dr RN Baba
Dr RN Baba, media manager of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) and the India Cements TN Premier League, addressed a set of local reporters at The RR Inn, Tirunelveli, on Tuesday. Dr. Baba elaborated on the matches scheduled in Tirunelveli as well as the transport facilities available for the general public to attend the matches.
“There will be a total of nine matches, including eight league matches and one semifinal. There will be three-day matches and six day/night matches starting at 2.30 pm and 6.30 pm
respectively in Tirunelveli,” said Baba. He added that match tickets were priced at Rs 50 and that was also applicable for the doubleheader on September 5.
“Just like the pre-match entertainment in Chennai and Natham, there will be an entertainment programme in Tirunelveli as well before the first match between VB Thiruvallur Veerans and Dindigul Dragons,” Baba said. Also, Kollywood actress Iniya is set to entertain the audience in the pre-match programme.
Baba spoke about the match tickets and had this to say: “The first preference will be given to the spectators who will buy tickets directly since there is excess demand for the same. There will not be any sale of tickets on the day of any match. There will be free pick up service at four points- old bus stand, new bus stand, junction and Aravind Eye Hospital by 21 vans — each making four trips on all match days. The spectators will be dropped only at one point (junction) by these 21 vans plus eight buses.”
Terming this tournament as N. Srinivasan’s ‘brain-child’, Dr. Baba hoped that the inaugural version of the league would be a grand success, especially in the district regions. He also acknowledged the contributions of TNCA Secretary K.S Viswanathan and joint Secretary RI Palani.
He thanked title sponsors India Cements, pouring partners Coca-Cola and associate sponsors Atharva, Krishna Mines, Equitas and Nandu Brand Lungies. He also thanked broadcast partners Star Sports 1, Star Sports HD 1 and Vijay Super.
