India vs Sri Lanka 2014: Stuart Binny replaces injured Varun Aaron for 2nd and 3rd ODIs
Karnataka all-rounder Stuart Binny has been included in the Indian squad for the 2nd and 3rd ODIs against Sri Lanka, after pacer Varun Aaron was ruled out due to an injury.
Aaron suffered an injury while bowling in the first ODI at Cuttack. The 25-year-old had to be taken out of the attack after he pulled up while bowling his 5th over. He had impressed a lot of people with the pace he was able to generate on Sunday, with one delivery going over 150 kph.
The Jharkhand bowler’s injury problems aren’t new and have haunted him for a long time now. Since making his international debut three years ago, he has played only 3 Tests and 9 ODIs.
Binny’s inclusion comes as no surprise as he has been a regular part of the Indian setup over the last year. He had to sit on the bench throughout the ODI series in England, after not making much of an impression in the three Tests he played in.
The 30-year-old is still quite inexperienced at the international level, having played just 4 ODIs so far. His best moment in an Indian shirt came at Dhaka earlier this year where he recorded figures of 6/4 with the ball, the best ever by an Indian in LOI cricket.
The 2nd ODI will be held in Ahmedabad on Thursday, which will be followed by a match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Sunday. The hosts won the first game by 169 runs.
