India superfan Sudhir Gautam provided tight security for third Bangladesh ODI
Team India superfan Sudhir Gautam, who claimed to have been attacked by a Bangladeshi mob after the second ODI in Mirpur on Sunday, has been provided special security by Bangladesh authorities for the third ODI.
"I told them that I didn't want to file any complaint. It's over. But they have posted guards outside (my accommodation in Bangladesh). Two guards will accompany me to India's practice session and bring me back. And on the day of the match, there will be four guards with me," said Gautam, not one to stay away from a stadium where India are playing on any account.
“Since the issue has been brought up, we will put up more cautionary measures in the third and final ODI,” said an official from the Mirpur police station.
Eyewitnesses of the event on Sunday night, including a BCB official, have corroborated that a Bangladeshi crowd shouting ‘Mauka, Mauka’ had indeed gathered around him and chased his CNG auto; the degree of physical assault is still unclear – but perhaps irrelevant.
