India v England, 2nd Test, Fourth day stats: Wriddhiman Saha shares a dubious record with Sachin Tendulkar

England’s resilient batting during the fourth day has set up an interesting finish for the Vizag Test. After being set a target of 405, England are 87 for two at the end of day 4 with Joe Root and Ben Duckett in the middle. With the pitch starting to turn and grip, day 5 promises a lot of interesting with Indian going all out for a win, while England looking to play out a draw.

Here are all the stats from day four of the Vizag Test:

2 – Wriddhiman Saha made two unsuccessful reviews on LBW during the two innings of the Vizag Test. The only other Indian to do the same was Sachin Tendulkar, who did that same in 2008 against Sri Lanka.

3 – Jayant Yadav is the third Indian batsman to score 50-plus runs on Test debut while batting at number nine or lower. The other two being L Amar Singh and Balwinder Sandhu.

6 – The number of instances when Virat Kohli went past 140 in his last 7 Test hundreds: his scores read 141, 169, 147, 103, 200, 211, and 167. Incidentally, he didn't get past 120 in any of his first 7 Test hundreds.

16 – The number of times Cheteshwar Pujara has been out bowled in a Test. He is been out by a bowler on 59 occasions, and clean bowled makes 29 percent of all his dismissals.

47.6 – This is the current bowling strike rate of Moeen Ali against India in Tests. He has the best strike rate among spin bowlers with 25 wickets or more in the last 50 years against India.

50.2 – The number of overs batted by Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed in the fourth innings. This is the most number of overs that an away opening pair has batted on Indian soil since 2000.

75 – The number of runs scored by England in the first 50 overs during the 4th innings. It’s the fourth least number of runs scored by a Test side in 50 overs since June 2001. The lowest being South Africa, who scored 49 runs in 50 overs.against India in 2015.

171 – The number of balls Alastair Cook took to score a fifty today. This is his slowest fifty in terms of balls taken. The second being against Sri Lanka in 2012, where he took 164 balls.

248 – The total number of runs scored by Virat Kohli in this Test. This is the 4th highest cumulative score by an Indian captain in a Test.  The list is topped by Sunil Gavaskar who scored 289 in a Test against West Indies in 1978.

2002 – The last instance of a third-wicket century stand against England for India. In the 2002 series, Dravid & Tendulkar added 150 at Headingley for the third wicket. The stand by Kohli and Pujara is the first in 43 innings.
