India vs Australia 2013: Every night in my dreams, I see George…

George Bailey

When the tour of India is over, execs at Cricket Australia will sit down to discuss reinstating the budget for those “high-fiving” workshops that were so effective.

In a week where some bloke in India announced his retirement, Western Australia lost a match in the NSW cup and David Warner got in trouble *again* (he’s got a touch, that boy), everything was nicely topped off by a win in the first ODI v India.

There were very few negatives today:

Shane Warne using the word “ask” as a noun
Twatto getting that big wicket right when we needed it
Rampant overuse of the line “the captain is leading/has lead from the front”
The haters using Bailey’s class as an excuse to bash on Pup

But mostly it was all positive:

a strong opening partnership that set things going
George Bailey
Phil Hughes’ batting
Phil Hughes in the keepers’ gloves
Forks’ bowling
Bailey being ginger
outstanding fielding
Bailey’s tactics
Twatto getting just 2
Mitch’s speed (spit spit spit)
Former haters suddenly loving Bailey
Haddin almost losing an eye
Clint’s bowling
the hashtag #OurGeorge gathering momentum on twitter
the news that Moises is growing his ‘tache again
Bailey’s stubble (I’m a sucker for stubble)
Bailey’s catch (that I actually missed!)
a good, defendable total
Indian fans being overconfident
and, let’s not forget, George Bailey
Only 6 more games to go, then. I’m sure we’ll get bored by number 3. In the meantime, I’m off to rewrite the lyrics of a tacky love song in honour of Our George.

Every night in my dreams, I see George, I feel George. That is how I know …

No, I can’t do it. I have too much respect for the man. Somebody, please, shoot me.
