India vs Australia 2019, 1st ODI: Player Ratings
Looking to bounce back after suffering a setback in T20I series, the Indian team took on Australia in the 1st ODI of the 5-match ODI series at Hyderabad.
Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first. However, Finch's decision to bat first backfired as Indian bowlers restricted Australia to a modest total of 236/7 in the allotted 50 overs.
Chasing 237, the Australian bowlers had Indian team reeling at 99/4 in 24 overs. But, half-centuries from MS Dhoni and Kedhar Jadhav ensured that India reached home safely without any further hiccups.
With the match done and dusted, let's see how the players from both sides fared in this encounter.
Australia
Usman Khawaja- 6.5/10
The left-hander was Australia's top scorer as he scored a patient 50 runs knock of 76 balls, before his innings was cut short courtesy of a brilliant catch by Vijay Shankar at the deep.
Aaron Finch- 1/10
Finch's poor run with the bat continued as he was dismissed for a duck by Jasprit Bumrah.
Marcus Stoinis- 4/10
The Australian all-rounder got off to a good start but failed to convert it into a big score and was dismissed by Kedar Jadhav for 37 runs. Stoinis did not have a good day with the ball either as he went wicketless in his spell of 9.2-0-52-0.
Peter Handscomb- 3/10
Just like Stoinis, Handscomb too got off to start but failed to carry on and was stumped by MS Dhoni of Kuldeep Yadav's bowling after scoring 19 runs from 30 balls.
Glenn Maxwell- 6/10
Maxwell continued his good form from T20I series and scored 40 runs of 51 balls before being undone by a peach of delivery from Mohammed Shami.
Ashton Turner- 3/10
The debutant did not have a good game as he was dismissed for 21 runs by Mohammed Shami.
Alex Carey- 5/10
The wicketkeeper-batsman scored a crucial unbeaten knock of 36 runs of 37 balls to help Australia post a respectable total of 237/7.
Nathan Coulter-Nile- 8/10
Coulter-Nile had a dream match as he first provided finishing touches to Australian innings with a quickfire 28 runs of 27 balls and also picked up the important wickets of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan to put India in a spot of bother.
Pat Cummins- 4/10
Cummins had a decent game as he bowled an economical spell of 10-0-46-0.
Jason Behrendoff- 4/10
Just like his pace colleagues, Behrendoff too had a good match as he conceded just 46 runs from his 10 overs but failed to pick up a wicket.
Adam Zampa- 6/10
Apart from Coulter-Nile, Zampa was the only other Australian bowler who was among the wickets as he took 2 wickets in his spell of 10-0-49-2.
