India vs Australia 2019, 2nd ODI: Match details, Key Players and Predicted XI
After beating the Kangaroos in the first ODI, Team India are set to host Australia for the second ODI at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium. Kohli & Co. made a resounding comeback in the opening ODI to clinch the game by six wickets.
Australia, who were outplayed by the hosts in Hyderabad, must be worried about the form of their crucial batsmen. Both the teams will lock horns tomorrow in Nagpur on a tricky surface, so winning the toss will be essential for both the captains.
India found themselves under the pump following the T20I series loss. However, adversity brings the best out of champions and India won the first ODI comprehensively by six wickets.
Earlier, Indian bowlers set the tone for the hosts in the first inning to restrict the Aussies for 236 runs. Then batsmen played their part and helped India to draw first blood in this ODI series.
MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav scripted the clinical chase with their unbeaten 141-run partnership. Having lost the T20I series, the Blue Brigade would be eyeing to seal this crucial ODI series ahead of the ICC World Cup.
Australia have been struggling with their batting since last year, and without their ace duo of Smith & Warner, the situation is pretty scary. Since 2018, the defending ODI world champions have only managed to win three ODIs out of their 17 outings.
After sealing the T20I series in Bengaluru, the visitors were confident to perform well in the 50-over format too, but Indian bowlers had other plans. Aaron Finch’s batting woes have added more to the Kangaroo’s misery.
The Australian skipper has only scored 158 runs in the 17 innings since October 2018 and crossed 15-run mark only twice. The Aussies would be hoping to land a counter punch in the second ODI against the mighty Indians.
