India countered the Aussies in the opening ODI to claim early honours in the series and now will look to extend the lead, whey they welcome the visitors Australia for the second One Day fixture at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur on Tuesday, March 5.

Head to Head Overall Stats: India and Australia have played 122 completed ODIs against each other. Aussies lead the clash line, having emerged victorious in 74 of those while the remaining 48 were won by the Indians.

Head to Head in India: In the 52 ODI matches hosted by the subcontinent nation, both teams are going neck to neck by securing 26 wins each. However, at the PCA Stadium the Indians comprehensively lead the scoreline at 3-1.

Indian Perspective

After a huge setback in the T20's, the hosts countered the visitors in the first ODI to register their maiden win of the tour by six wickets. The win in the series opener and their impressive record at this venue will certainly boost their confidence ahead of the clash.

Batting

MS Dhoni (59*) and Kedar Jadhav (81) played a key role in reviving India's fortunes in the first ODI. They shared a match-defining unbeaten stand of 141 runs to get the hosts over the victory line, and in case of a top-order collapse, these two are expected to lay down a similar show in next game.

Rohit Sharma and skipper Kohli both played their part in the opening fixture by scoring 37 and 44 runs respectively and they will be eager to make it better in the second.

Bowling

Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav all snared their slices by picking two wickets each and are likely to dominate the opponents in the next fixture too.

Expected Playing XI

Virat Kohli (C), Ambati Rayudu, Shikhar Dhawan, MS Dhoni (W), Kedar Jadhav, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Siddharth Kaul, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah.

The Aussies failed to continue their T20 run in the ODI's and looking into the fact, one should understand that they have not won a bilateral ODI series since beating Pakistan in January 2017. Though there were some signs of revival in the first game, they would love to get over the line in the next outing.

Batting

Unlike the T20s, the Australian batters seemed reluctant against the dominant Indian attack, The only player to touch the 50-run mark was their opener Usman Khawaja, which itself tells the story. Though Maxwell picked up the pace from where he left in the shorter version and scored 40 runs to become their second-highest scorer of the game, the visitors will once again bank on these two to get them towards a decent total.

Meanwhile, the performance of the lower middle order was a positive sign for the visitors as most of them were part of small but considerable contributions and they will back them to continue it in the next games too.

Bowling

Nathan Coulter-Nile and Adam Zampa scared the hosts by reducing them to 99/4 at one stage and both shared four scalps among them. But all their good work was undone by other bowlers as they failed to pose any significant threat to the Indian batters and the skipper will need them to make it better in the second game.

Expected Playing XI

Aaron Finch (C), Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Ashton Turner, Alex Carey, Peter Handscomb, Jhye Richardson, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Adam Zampa, Pat Cummins
