India vs Australia 2019: 3 Indian players who should not have made it to the ODI squad

India have announced their squad for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Australia. There are hardly any surprises but the inclusion of a few players have left the fans puzzled.

Here are the squads in case you missed the announcement:

India’s squad for 1st and 2nd ODI against Australia: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MSD (wk), Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohamed Shami, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Vijay Shankar, Rishabh Pant, Siddharth Kaul, KL Rahul

India’s squad for remaining three ODIs: Virat Kohli (C), Rohit Sharma (VC), Shikhar Dhawan, Ambati Rayudu, Kedar Jadhav, MSD (wk), Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Vijay Shankar, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant.

Without further ado, a look at the three players who should have not been picked:

#3 Siddarth Kaul

Siddarth Kaul has been in the squad for some time now but has never really played a game. The fast bowler was in the squad for the New Zealand series as well but wasn't given a chance, with Mohammed Siraj being opted over him.

Kaul has been a very good bowler for Sunrisers Hyderabad but has never really been given a chance to shine with the Indian Cricket Team. And with the World Cup coming up, having in the side is just not worth it.

He's certainly not going to make it to the World Cup squad and while there are players like Ravindra Jadeja waiting to break into the squad, picking Kaul ahead of the Chennai Super Kings star might be a big mistake.

Even if the selection committee wanted to go in with his as the 3rd choice fast-bowler, there are far better options. Khaleel Ahmed should have retained his place as he is the only left-arm pacer in the team. Right now, the squad is filled with very similar bowlers and Khaleel could have been the only one to offer something different.
