India vs Australia - 2nd T20I: Player Ratings

India beat Australia by 27 runs

India sealed the three-match T20 series against Australia by winning the second T20I at Melbourne by 27 runs. It was a complete all-round performance from India as they completely outplayed the Aussies in all the three departments.

Let us take a look at how the players performed (scale of 0-10) in the match:

Rohit Sharma 8.5

After a slow start, the right-hander got his eye in and went on to score his ninth T20 fifty. He took as many as nine balls to get off the mark, but after that, he called the shots. Rohit got out for 60 off just 47 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Though he scored a fifty, he didn’t look his usual self as he struggled in patches.

Shikhar Dhawan 7

With Rohit struggling early, Dhawan made sure that the Indians are off to a flying start. He scored two huge sixes and both those shots can be watched again and again. Eventually, he got out to Glenn Maxwell for a 31-ball 41. Later in the field, Dhawan dropped a sitter of Aaron Finch and because of that, he gets half a point less.

Virat Kohli 9

Virat Kohli continued his sublime form as he got his sixth fifty of the tour in just seventh innings. After the 97-run opening partnership between Rohit and Dhawan, Kohli made sure that India maintained the same tempo throughout the innings. He remained unbeaten on 59 off just 33 balls with 7 fours and a six. During his knock, he took his T20I average to over 50. He was also awarded the player of the match.

MS Dhoni 8

After scoring 14 off 9, Dhoni used his bowlers really well and took a good catch apart from a flashy stumping to dismiss Glenn Maxwell and a quick pick-up to run Finch out. His lucky stumping to dismiss Faulkner pushed him to the top spot in the list of wicketkeepers with most international stumpings.

Suresh Raina - No ratings

Yuvraj Singh 7

Didn’t get a chance to bat, but bowled well in his 2 overs and got a wicket of Glenn Maxwell. He conceded just 7 runs when things were going against India.

Hardik Pandya 6.5

He didn’t get a chance to bat, but managed to hold on to a crucial catch to dismiss Marsh and got the wicket of Lynn.

Ravindra Jadeja 7.5

Though he went for 32 runs in 4 overs, he picked up two crucial wickets, including a stunning return catch to dismiss Shane Watson and ran Finch out.

R Ashwin 6.5

In his first over, he went for runs, but managed to make a comeback and ended his spell with figures of 1-27 in his 4 overs.

Ashish Nehra 5

He didn’t have a good day with the ball as he went for a lot of runs in his first spell. But later Nehra got his length right in his last over. He finished his spell with figures of 0-34 in 4 overs.

Jasprit Bumrah 6.5

Like Nehra, he went for a lot of runs in his first spell and managed to pick up two wickets in his last over. His figures read 2-37 in 4 overs.
