India are all set to take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home, starting at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai from Thursday, September 19. The second Test of the series will be played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27 to October 1.

India's last Test assignment was a five-match home series against England in January-March this year. They lost the first Test in Hyderabad by 28 runs but made an excellent comeback to clinch the series 4-1. On the other hand, Bangladesh recently registered a historic 2-0 Test series win in Pakistan. They will thus be high on confidence heading into the series against India.

#1 Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-getter in the India vs Bangladesh Tests

Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar is the leading run-getter in Test matches between India and Bangladesh. In seven Tests, he scored 820 runs at an excellent average of 136.66, with five centuries to his credit. For Bangladesh, Mushfiqur Rahim has scored 604 runs in eight matches, averaging 43.14, with two tons and two fifties.


#2 3 Indian batters have registered double hundreds in Tests against Bangladesh

Three double-hundreds have been registered in India vs Bangladesh Tests so far, with all scored by Indian batters. Tendulkar's 248* in Dhaka in December 2004 is the highest individual score in India vs Bangladesh Tests. Mayank Agarwal scored 243 in Indore in November 2019, while Virat Kohli smashed 204 in Hyderabad in February 2017.

Mohammad Ashraful's 158* in Chattogram in December 2004 is the highest score by a Bangladesh batter in Tests against India. Tamim Iqbal's 151 in Mirpur in January 2010 is next on the list.


#3 India have posted 600-plus totals twice against Bangladesh

India have scored 600-plus in an innings twice in Test matches against Bangladesh. Their 687/6 declared in Hyderabad in February 2017 is the highest team total in India vs Bangladesh Tests. India also scored 610-3 declared in Mirpur in May 2007.


#4 Only once has a team been bowled out for under 100 in an India vs Bangladesh Test

There has only been one instance of a team being bowled out for less than 100 in an India vs Bangladesh Test. Bangladesh were all-out for 91 in 46.3 overs in Dhaka in November 2000. This instance was registered in Bangladesh's maiden Test match in the second innings after they had posted 400 in the first essay.


#5 India have registered five innings wins against Bangladesh

India have beaten Bangladesh by an innings margin in Tests five times. Their biggest victory, by an innings and 239 runs, came in Mirpur in May 2007.

India beat Bangladesh by an innings and 140 runs in Dhaka (December 2004), by an innings and 130 runs in Indore (November 2019), by an innings and 83 runs in Chattogram (December 2004), and by an innings and 46 runs in Kolkata (November 2019).


#6 Sachin Tendulkar has hit the most hundreds in India vs Bangladesh Tests

Tendulkar holds the record for having hit the most tons in the India-Bangladesh Tests. He has five centuries to his credit from nine innings. The former India captain struck 248* in Dhaka (December 2004), 101 in Chattogram (May 2007), 122* in Mirpur (May 2007), 105* in Chattogram (January 2010) and 143 in Mirpur (January 2010).


#7 Mayank Agarwal has hit the most sixes in an innings against Bangladesh

Indian opener Mayank Agarwal holds the record for having struck the most sixes in an innings against Bangladesh in a Test match. He hit eight maximums in his 330-ball 243 in Indore in November 2019. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan smashed six sixes in his 84 in Chattogram in December 2022.


#8 Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for most runs in an India-Bangladesh Test series

The record for most runs scored in an India vs Bangladesh Test series is also held by Tendulkar. The batting legend scored 284 runs in two Tests in 2004-05. He is also second on the list, having notched up 264 runs in two Tests in 2009-10.


#9 Only one bowler has claimed 30-plus wickets in IND-BAN Tests

Former left-arm pacer Zaheer Khan is the leading wicket-taker in India vs Bangladesh Tests. In seven matches, he picked up 31 wickets at an average of 24.25, with two five-fers.

Zaheer is the only bowler with more than 30 scalps in India vs Bangladesh Tests. Ishant Sharma is second on the list, with 25 wickets from seven Test matches.


#10 Two Indian bowlers have claimed 10 wickets in a Test against Bangladesh

Two instances of bowlers claiming 10 wickets in a match have been registered in India vs Bangladesh Tests. An Indian bowler has achieved the feat on both occasions. Irfan Pathan (5-45 & 6-51) picked up 11 wickets in Dhaka in December 2004. Zaheer (3-62 & 7-87) claimed 10 wickets in Mirpur in January 2010.
