2- Friday’s five-wicket haul was Ashwin’s seventh in 2016 and he is now only the second bowler after Muttiah Muralitharan to take that many five-wicket hauls in two consecutive years. In 2015, he took the same number. The Sri Lankan achieved this feat in 2000 and 2001.
1-Jos Buttler’s fifty on Friday was his first one in 15 innings since January 2015. Before that, the Englishman had five 50+ plus scores to his name. He made 76 on Friday.
3-England’s overall score of 400 was the third consecutive time when they reached that mark against India at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. They made the exact same score in the 2006 Test that was played here and posted 413 runs on the board in the first innings in the 2012 Test.
4- Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja on Friday became only the fourth Indian bowling pair to capture all 10 English wickets in a single innings of a Test. The others to achieve this feat are Lala Amarnath/Vinoo Mankad(1946), Bishan Bedi/BS Chandrasekhar(1972) and Kapil Dev/Madan Lal(1981).
4-With 65 wickets to his name in 2016, Ashwin is now fourth on the list for the most number of scalps picked by an Indian in a calendar year. Kapil Dev leads the pack with 75 wickets that he took in 1983.
3-This is the eighth series where Ashwin has taken two or more five-wicket hauls. Kapil Dev and Anil Kumble also achieved the landmark in the same number of series.
7-The number of five-wicket hauls picked up by Ashwin in 2016. He is joint-second with Kumble(2004), Rangana Herath(2012), who took the same number of five-wicket hauls in a year. Muralitharan holds the record with six five-wicket hauls in 2006.
