In the ODI World Cup, the two teams first locked horns in the 1992 Benson & Hedges World Cup. Batting first, India scored 216/7 in 49 overs, courtesy of Sachin Tendulkar’s unbeaten 54 and Ajay Jadeja’s 46. In response, Pakistan were bundled out for 173 in 48.1 overs despite a valiant effort from Aamir Sohail (62) and Javed Miandad (40). The Men in Green, though, went on to win their first-ever title.

The two teams last locked horns during the 2019 World Cup in England. A clinical batting performance from Rohit Sharma (140 off 113) helped India post 336/5 in their allotted 50 overs. In response, Pakistan managed just 212/6 in 40 overs (reduced due to rain). Team India won the game by 89 runs via the DLS method.

India have a 100 percent win record against Pakistan in the ODI Cricket World Cup. They have won all seven games against the Men in Green. The Men in Blue also have more titles against Pakistan. India won the titles in 1983 and 2011 under Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni, respectively.

Dev led India to their first-ever title by defeating two-time champion West Indies by 43 runs in the final at the Lord’s in London. Dhoni, on the other hand, guided the Men in Blue to a six-wicket win versus Sri Lanka in the final at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. On the other hand, Imran Khan led Pakistan to their only World Cup title in Melbourne in 1992. They beat England by 22 runs in the final.

In the 2023 ODI World Cup, the two teams will play each other in a high-voltage game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14. While India will look to register their eighth win in the tournament, Pakistan will be looking to change the trend.
