India vs Sri Lanka 2017: Rating Indian players in Test series
The third Test between India and Sri Lanka ended in a draw as a result of the Sri Lankan batsmen showing great determination on Day 5.
India, on the other side, continued their dominance in the Test format, after winning the series 1-0. They have now won 9 consecutive Test series.
Most of the Indian players looked in great touch, except for a couple, who failed to perform in the series. Here is how each and every Indian player fared in this series.
Virat Kohli: 10/10
Virat Kohli left no stone unturned in the series by scoring 610 runs in three matches. In the three Tests, Kohli scored three hundreds, which include two big double centuries, to go with one half-century. He was named the Man of the Series along with two Man of the match awards. Kohli has utilized his form to the fullest and looks all set for the South Africa tour.
Shikhar Dhawan: 7/10
After scores of 8 and 94 in the first test, Dhawan missed out on the second. He made his comeback in the third with scores of 23 and 67 in the two innings. He scored a total of 192 runs but failed to convert his fifties into hundreds and would like to make it big in South Africa.
Murali Vijay: 9/10
Vijay made most of the opportunities that he got after getting dropped in the first Test by scoring back-to-back centuries in the next two. It is safe to say that the right-handed batsman has sealed his spot for the South Africa series now. Vijay scored 292 runs in 2 Tests at a staggering average of 97.33. With his solid defence and technique, he could be the trump card for the Indian team on their upcoming stint overseas.
Lokesh Rahul: 3/10
Rahul failed miserably in the series and got dismissed due to ordinary shots. In the second innings of the first Test, he scored 79 runs but failed to convert that score into a big one. He is often criticized for throwing his wicket after getting starts. KL had seven consecutive fifties leading up to this series, but couldn't turn even one of them into a big hundred. If he gets a chance in the South Africa series, he would want to add a big score to his name.
