India vs USA, 2024 T20 World Cup: India player ratings as Arshdeep, Suryakumar fire Men in Blue to Super 8s
It wasn't a straightforward contest, but Team India managed to get over the line by seven wickets against the United States of America in Match 25 of the 2024 T20 World Cup on Wednesday, June 12. With the win, they wrapped up the New York leg of their campaign.
The Men in Blue also became the first team from Group A to qualify for the Super Eight stage and will fly to Florida to play out their final league game. Rohit Sharma and Co. were tested in the batting powerplay, but they dug in and got over the line in the end.
On that note, here are India's player ratings from their T20 World Cup clash against the USA.
T20 World Cup 2024, India vs USA: Arshdeep, SKY shine in fighting win
Rohit Sharma: 3/10
Rohit racked up successive failures as a delivery that stopped a touch off the deck claimed his wicket. His captaincy has been slightly puzzling too, not just today but throughout the tournament as well.
Virat Kohli: 2/10
Kohli's poor start to the 2024 T20 World Cup continued as he fished at one outside off to nick off the first ball. The opener is being seriously tested against the new ball.
Rishabh Pant: 6/10
Pant was tidy with the gloves once again. While he played a couple of good shots, he couldn't quite get going with the bat.
Suryakumar Yadav: 8/10
Suryakumar struggled throughout his stay in the middle and wasn't his fluent self. Nevertheless, he hung in there, survived a dropped chance, and gritted it out. SKY's unbeaten half-century went a long way in India getting over the line.
Shivam Dube: 6.5/10
Dube's only over was hit for a four and a six. Rohit took a gamble by bringing him on, one that didn't work out. The southpaw couldn't find the middle of his bat at all at the start of his knock, but he struck a mammoth six to keep the required run rate in check and made a valuable 31*.
Hardik Pandya: 9/10
Hardik bowled a threatening spell, mixing up his cutters and bouncers well. The all-rounder provided two breakthroughs and conceded just 14 runs. He bowled a team-high 19 dots.
Ravindra Jadeja: 5/10
Jadeja didn't bowl, didn't bat, and wasn't in the thick of things on the field. He receives a standard rating.
Axar Patel: 6/10
Axar bowled three overs, and while he was hit for two sixes too many, the left-arm spinner picked up a wicket.
Jasprit Bumrah: 8/10
It was a routine outing for Bumrah. Wickets didn't fall his way, but he bowled well and constantly asked questions of the USA batters.
Arshdeep Singh: 10/10
Arshdeep was the pick of the Indian bowlers as he finished with four scalps and hit the right lengths throughout. The left-armer could've had even more wickets to his name with better luck. He conceded just nine runs and no boundaries.
Mohammed Siraj: 8/10
Siraj had identical figures to Bumrah and was active on the field. He did his job well but has been the least effective of India's pace quartet in the 2024 T20 World Cup.
