Virat Kohli will lead India for a four-Test series against the West Indies

The schedule for the upcoming India-West Indies Test series has been announced by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The series, a one-month affair, will commence on the 21st of July and will conclude by August 22nd.

The first Test match will be played in Antigua from July 21st to July 25th   followed by the second Test at Jamaica on July 30th. The third Test will be held in St.Lucia, and will start on 9th August, and will be followed by the final one in Trinidad from August 18-22. The series will coincide with a part of the Carribean Premier League, the T20 domestic league that is held in the West Indies every year.

As a prelude to the four-Test series, the visitors would play two practice games as well, the first of which would be a two-day affair in St. Kitts from July 9 while the second one would be a three-day game to be played from July 14 at the same venue.

The Test series was announced in March by the WICB president Dave Cameron, and put an end to all the questions surrounding BCCI’s relation with the West Indies board after the latter had pulled out of a Test series against India midway in 2014.

The West Indies team is currently gearing up to host the tri-series against South Africa and Australia, which starts on Friday. The series will continue until June 26, with the finals to be played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados. India visit Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and as many T20s before the Test series against West Indies.

India announced a 17-man squad for the series last month, including the uncapped Mumbai pacer Shardul Thakur. The squad also included Mohammed Shami, the right-handed pacer who has not played for India since March 2015. Virat Kohli has been named the captain, and Ajinkya Rahane has been announced as his deputy.
